MUTED BLUSH - MY NEW NEUTRAL
It may sound ridiculous but introducing new colours, scratch that, tones in to my wardrobe can be daunting. As a self-confessed minimalist I generally only wear shades of black, white and grey, occasionally pale blue denim and nudes. I still don't remember how exactly it happened or how I transitioned in to a boring colourless way of life, but I love it. There's something about neutral tones that give an outfit sophistication, class, mystery and cool. Your personality is that little bit more hidden meaning someone would have to really get to know you before they can work out who you are. Secondly, you can lay in longer. You really can throw a look together with almost anything from your wardrobe and it just works.
So taking buckets of inspiration from Tomas Maier's Spring/Summer 2017 collection at Bottega Veneta, my new neutral for this year will be muted blush tones. The simplicity of the clean colour and classic, elegantly British look (as modelled by Gigi Hadid and Lauren Hutton) is so feminine and brilliantly powerful at the same time. The stylists at Bottega Veneta paired pretty heels with sheer black socks, tailored coats with cream underlayers, and sleek hair with black cat-eye sunglasses - I couldn't find a look on the catwalk I wasn't obsessed with.
