THE LUXURY LOVER'S GUIDE TO SAVING
TIPS I HAVE LEARNT TO SAVE MONEY
1. Have TWO signature scents. Every girl has their favourite luxury perfume - the scent you adore and the perfect accessory to your date night outfits. For me nothing wears better than my Gypsy Water from Byredo. But a few spritzes a day can start to get expensive, so stock up on a cheaper bottle for work/every day wear. Zara have a beautiful collection of perfumes that actually mimic common best sellers such as Chanel and Thierry Mugler.
2. EMBRACE the spam. There is nothing worse than scrolling through the 'new in' collections of your favourite fashion websites and pining over the pieces you just can't afford. But these days we often tend to ignore a valuable tool that could help us shop for less - SPAM. Now spam can be annoying if you accidentally input your email in the wrong place, however ensuring you sign up to updates from ASOS, Whistles, Selfridges and your other favourite brands, you will discover that these companies tell subscribers first when they have huge discounts. So get subscribing!
3. Set a GOAL. Unless you are part of the small minority who doesn't use online banking, you will be aware of how easy it is to open an ISA with your bank. Every month I will move funds in to an ISA, I can see the balance increasing each month and it's a really great feeling. To stop you spending the money you have saved, set a goal of what you are saving for, whether this be a mortgage, a Saint Laurent sac de jour, or a holiday with your girls. Thank me later!
4. PREP not PRET. As much as i'm partial to Pret A Manger's Banana and Cashew shake in the morning and LOVE their salmon and avocado flat bread for lunch, when added up this really isn't cost effective. By all means treat yourself once or twice a month but your best bet at saving on lunch costs is to prep your meals. I make a jar full of Bircher muesli with oats and almond milk for easy breakfasts, and my wonderful boyfriend gets up every morning to make me a healthy lunch for work. I promise it doesn't take too much time and will save you a lot of contactless cafe payments!
